This is a series that mixes a bit of fantasy, magic, and science fiction to bring a different take on Salem Witches and Alternative Worlds
Last night, I was lucky enough to be able attended the PTA Showcase at the Penguin Random House office in Melbourne. It was an fantastic event full of bookish goodness and some sweet treats.
It was great to not only to get to hear about the upcoming releases from Penguin but to also meet the wonderful and talented Jodi McAlister, Shivaun Plozza and Fleur Ferris. There are so many amazing titles that Penguin will be releasing in 2017. There is something for everyone.
The night started with us being welcomed by the lovely Penguin team and being gifted a Harry Potter Lego figure and a mystery box. ( Im sure you have seen the images on Twitter and Instagram.)
Inside was the 2017 Penguin Teen Australia Superproof, a Valentine card, a little Penguin classics notebook and a heart-shaped chocolate. There was also a massive spread of delicious food and drinks in the room, as well as ice cream YUMMY.
The night started with us having the opportunity to do a meet and great with the authours before the presentations showcasing a preview of the upcoming 2017 releases.
These included books like
The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr
A Shadow’s Breath by Nicole Hayes
Before You Forget by Julia Lawrinson
Mr Romanov’s Garden in the Sky by Robert Newton
See You in the Cosmos by Jack Cheng
Wreck by Fleur Ferris
All of these have stunning covers and all of their synopses sounded really good. So i can defiantly see my TBR pile growing this year.
Next up was a conversation between Fleur Ferris, the author of Risk and Black AND Shivaun Plozza the author of Frankie.
The conversation talked about Fleur back ground, writing style, research and why she feels the need to terrify us. Fleur also let us know that Black was actually the 6 book she had written and she even let a little bit slip about the next book she is working on. We then looked at some more upcoming contemporary releases.
These included titles like
Geekerella by Ashley Poston
Optimists Die First by Susin Nielsen
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index by Julie Israel
One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
It was also mentioned that Megan Jacobsen and Krystal Sutherland would be releasing new books this year as well. And there was a little reminder that Everything Everything movie would be out this year too.
Next on the schedule was a trivia section run by Shivaun Plozza. There were 10 giftbags up for grabs as prizes. A few of the questions were actually pretty hard so congrats to the people who managed to get them correct!
The final section of previews were fantasy books. These were defiantly my favourites. We can look forward to
We have Now I Rise by Kiersten White (the sequel to And I Darken)
This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada,
Cradle and All by James Patterson
The Spellbook of Lost and Found by Moira Fowley-Doyle
Valentine by debut author, Jodi McAlister, who was present at the event.
To help launch Valentine Jodi and a short conversation with Shivaun Plozza. Starting with a 10 speed dating pitch. We then got to learn more about her background and how she became a writer as well as what Valentine is about. To celebrate the launch Penguin had organized a wonderful cake. That looked and tasted amazing.
It was a fantastic night and i can not wait for another.
Just a little sneak peak at some of the amazing titles beign released in 2017
MY 5 MOST ANTICIPATED BOOKS FROM THE PTA SHOWCASE
1. Optimists Die First by Susin Nielsen
I love the title of this book, but its tagline is “a love story for cynics”. That’s pretty much all I need to know.
2. Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moira Fowley-Doyle
The synopsis sounded fantastic and definitely something that’s right up my alley.
3. Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index by Julie Israel
This is a book about grief and it’s been described as Love Letters to the Dead meets The Sy is Everywhere.
4. Geekerella by Ashley Poston
If the title doesn’t have you then the modern retailing will.
5. Agent Nomad 1: The Eleventh Hour And Agent Nomad 2: Deadly Magic By Skye Melki-Wegner
The synosis for this sounded like a cross between Harry Potter and the Magicians

This is a beautiful conclusion to the series.
It was a long road to the release of Release, but its here. Vanessa Garden has self-published this final instalment in the Submerged Sun trilogy. She has also re-released the first to books in the series .

With Robbies reduced eye sight making lift hard for him. He is trying his best to hold his world together and find a way to bring Marko back to reclaim the throne, but Sylvia will not give it up easily. Even if Marko can reclaim his throne, he and Miranda may not be able to be together.
All of the threads that have been woven through the first two books come together here, in a beautiful conclusion that will leave you wanting more.
