Meet Oakley Ford-teen celebrity, renowned pop star, child of famous movie stars, hottie with millions of fangirls… and restless troublemaker. On the surface he has it all, but with his home life disintegrating, his music well suddenly running dry, and the tabloids having a field day over his outrageous exploits, Oakley’s team decides it’s time for an intervention. The result: an image overhaul, complete with a fake girlfriend meant to show the world he’s settled down.

Enter seventeen-year-old Vaughn Bennett-devoted sister, part-time waitress, the definition of “normal.” Under ordinary circumstances she’d never have taken this gig, but with her family strapped for cash, she doesn’t have much of a choice. And for the money Oakley’s team is paying her, she figures she can put up with outlandish Hollywood parties and a team of publicists watching her every move. So what if she thinks Oakley’s a shallow, self-centered jerk? It’s not like they’re going to fall for each other in real life…right?
Review

This is the first book by  Erin Watt I have read and it was a beautiful  and  addictive read.  I really wished there was more to the story.

When It’s Real is the story of Vaughn & Oakley.

Vaughn is a down to earth girl, who’s life is not going the way she would have liked. After her parents are killed, Vaughn  decided to put off college and work as a  waitress to help her sister with the financial support the family. However when she is offered an unexpected job that has the power to change their lives, she feels she has no choice but to take it.

Oakley is a child star, not only in his own right as a mysician but also dye to the fact that his parents are Hollywood royalty. But he wants to be taken seriously as an artist. Which means he needs to have a image make over and his manager knows just how to do it.

Oakley and Vaughn were polar opposites, but they are exactly what each other needs.  Though aspects of this story are predictable it is a fantastic story. It shows that what you see is not always the full story. Which in a world were we are enthralled social media and the life’s of the rich amd famous  is a great lesson .

Vaughn does have a boyfriend, though I’m not sure how committed  to the relationships he really is.  Which of course complicates the matter. I don’t real think that this can be consider it a love triangle,  because it’s clear to anyone that her boyfriend is a little self obsessed.

This is a standalone novel. Which makes it a perfect weekend or holiday read. I do wish we got to see a little more ay the end.

It is  also written in first person from alternating POVs. This is something i normally hste in a book. But it is exactly what makes this story work.

As soon as I started reading the first few pages of this book, I fell in love with loved the writing. Erin Watt has a fun, fresh, addictive voice that pulls you in and keeps reading. I highly recommend this book as a superstar romance.
